The guide

Easily understand and prepare matcha and hojicha.

Matcha and hojicha may seem complex at first.

In reality, a few simple steps are enough to easily incorporate them into your daily life.

This guide gives you the essential basics.

Prepare a matcha

1. Add 1 to 2g of matcha to a bowl
2. Pour in about 60–70 ml of hot water (70–80°C)
3. Whisk vigorously with a chasen (bamboo whisk)
4. Continue until a fine, even foam is obtained

Result: a smooth texture, a light foam, and a balanced taste, without bitterness.

This method is the basis of traditional Japanese preparation.
It allows the full flavor of the matcha to be revealed.

Common mistakes:

– Water too hot → bitterness
– Poor mixing → lumps
– Low quality → unpleasant taste

A well-prepared matcha should remain smooth and balanced.

Prepare a hojicha latte

1. Mix the hojicha with a little hot water
2. Add hot or cold milk
3. Stir
4. Adjust to your taste

Simple, quick, and easy from the very first preparation.

Matcha vs Hojicha

Matcha is more vegetal, more intense, and provides energy.

Hojicha is milder, rounder, and can be consumed at any time.

The two are complementary.
